Peterson Advances in Tennis Tournament

NEWPORT BEACH — Adam Peterson of Orange continued his winning streak at the Mats Wilander Battle of the Beaches tennis tournament Thursday at Newport Beach Tennis Club to advance to the men’s open quarterfinal round.
Peterson, who played at Mater Dei and is unseeded in the event, defeated fifth-seeded Kelly Jones of San Diego, 6-2, 6-2. Peterson will play Ronald Agenor of Haiti today. Agenor is seeded fourth.
In other matches, Hank Pfister won by default over Pat Crow of Long Beach to advance. Pfister will play Jeff Tarango of Manhattan Beach today.
