In other nonleague games:
Highland 22, Valencia 20--Derek Brown’s 48-yard field goal with 43 seconds to play lifted the Bulldogs in their first game on their home field.
Brown also kicked a 42-yard field goal with 5:45 remaining to bring Highland to within 20-19.
Brandon McElvaine rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown in 17 carries for Highland. Camy Smith completed 13 of 27 passes for 127 yards. Smith opened the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter.
Manuel White led Valencia with 251 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 24 carries. He scored on runs of 52 and 31 yards and also caught a six-yard touchdown pass from Brian Hamilton that tied the score, 7-7, in the second quarter.
Valencia trailed, 16-7, at halftime, but took a 20-16 lead on White’s touchdown runs on consecutive possessions.
