Moon, 40, Not Over the Hill Yet

INDIANAPOLIS — Somebody check Warren Moon’s birth certificate. He can’t be 40.

Moon, the oldest player in the NFL, made the winless Indianapolis Colts look decrepit Sunday, passing for 270 yards and one touchdown in Seattle’s 31-3 victory, the Seahawks’ first of the season.

“I’m a little bit up there in age, but I can still move around enough to at least keep myself safe,” said Moon, who was starting his second game for Seattle in place of injured John Friesz. “I’ll do whatever it takes to win, but I’ll also be smart when I do it.”

Moon was 24 for 38 passing, set up a first-quarter touchdown run by Lamar Smith and even ran for a touchdown himself, his first in four years.

Moon also scrambled for a 17-yard gain, setting up a 20-yard touchdown pass to Mike Pritchard in the fourth quarter. It was Moon’s 256th touchdown pass, breaking a tie with Sonny Jurgensen for sixth on the NFL’s all-time list.

“Right now I feel good just because we got the win and we got it on the road,” Moon said. “I’m just going to play as hard and as long as I can, as long as I still enjoy it.”

Seattle (1-2) allowed Indianapolis (0-3) only a first-quarter field goal by Cary Blanchard. The Colts’ only touchdown this season came on an interception return.

“I’m obviously not pushing the right buttons,” Indianapolis Coach Lindy Infante said.

The Colts’ Jim Harbaugh was 11-of-17 passing for 77 yards and was sacked eight times for losses of 54 yards.

“We’ve got to go back and figure out what’s wrong,” Harbaugh said. “I’m not doing the job, and it’s disappointing.”
