Theft Inquiry Targets Former District Treasurer
- Share via
Police are investigating allegations that the former treasurer of the Bonita Unified School District teachers union embezzled just under $10,000 from the union, officials said.
Ed Morgan was treasurer from 1995 through 1996, police said. During that time, union officials allege, Morgan embezzled money and misused a union-issued debit card, La Verne Police Chief Ron Ingels said.
Investigators said the union conducted its own probe into the alleged embezzlement before contacting police this week.
“We’re just beginning our investigation,” Ingels said.
Morgan could not be reached for comment.
