Ventura County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the beating death of Nicholas Dowey.
Dowey, a 21-year-old college student from Ventura, was clubbed in the head Sept. 12 at a party on St. Thomas Drive in Meiners Oaks. He died of his injuries a day later.
Ventura County sheriff’s investigators said Dowey had a confrontation with a group of party-goers who were armed with several types of weapons. He was struck at least twice in the head with a club or baseball bat, investigators said. Of the more than 75 to 100 people at the party, none has come forward with information about the beating, investigators said.
Detectives ask that anyone with information about the fight call them. Callers can remain anonymous. Contact Crime Stoppers at 385-TALK or 494-TALK, and refer to Case #97-75700.
