NORTH HILLS — An automated teller machine was stolen from the Iceoplex in the predawn hours Sunday and found smashed open by Balboa Park rangers hours later, police said.
Sgt. Kirk Wilder said the money machine was unbolted from the ice rink at 8345 Hayvenhurst Avenue between 2 and 5 a.m. Sunday.
An employee found the doors of the rink wide open at 5 a.m. and reported the machine missing.
About $5,000 was stolen from the ATM, which is approximately 4 feet tall and 2 1/2 feet wide, Wilder said.
