Gunshot Victim Held in Hospital Assault

An Oxnard man who was one of four gunshot victims was arrested Sunday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after he tried to run down a hospital security guard with his car the previous night, authorities say.

Anthony Ramirez Jr., 19, was among four victims in what may have been a gang-related shooting at 10 p.m. Saturday on Bryce Canyon Avenue at A Street, Oxnard police say.

Ramirez and the others drove to St. John’s Regional Medical Center seeking treatment for minor wounds, and Ramirez tried to run down the security officer, who was not identified, in the emergency room parking lot, authorities said. Police don’t know what prompted the alleged assault.

The other victims were identified as Enrique Villagomez, 19; Eloy Barquin, 18, and Michael Hernandez, 18, all of Oxnard.

Investigators said the four men were uncooperative with officers.

Ramirez was being held in County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, authorities said.
