A magnitude 4.4 aftershock from the 1992 Landers earthquake hit Sunday in the desert near Yucca Valley, but there were no reports of injuries or significant damage.
The 8:57 a.m. temblor was described by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy James Porter as “particularly strong. . . . It was sort of like a rolling-type earthquake.”
The 7.3-magnitude Landers quake, which was followed by a 6.5 quake in Big Bear hours later, killed one, injured hundreds and damaged millions of dollars in property.
