Victims’ Rights Week to Be Recognized
For a ninth year, the district attorney’s Victim Services Division will join agencies from across the county next Wednesday to recognize national Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
Four people will be rewarded for their sensitivity and commitment to victims’ rights during an 11:45 a.m. ceremony at the central fountain of the Ventura County Government Center.
In addition, a display honoring crime victims will be set up on the knoll in front of the government center, and a symbolic walk around the complex will be held after the presentation of awards.
This year’s recipients are Det. Gary Galloway of the Simi Valley Police Department, Det. Christina Alvarez of the Port Hueneme Police Department, Nancy Erday of Interface Children Family Services and Senior Probation Officer Ralph C. Brand.
The events are aimed at raising community awareness of victims’ rights, while paying tribute to the survivors of violent crime.
The walk is open to the public. For more information, call the Victim Services Division at 654-3622.
