Rain on Way Out; Death Toll at 266

Torrential rains headed south of the Korean peninsula after swelling rivers to dangerous levels and causing at least 266 deaths this month, South Korea’s disaster agency said. Heavy rain alerts were temporarily withdrawn for the southern tip of the country, the Korea Meteorological Administration office said. Southern regions had initially been forecast to receive up to 5.2 inches of rain Thursday. The weather bureau also canceled flood warnings issued for the Naktong, Kum and Somjin rivers.
