A Successful Run for Charter Oak

Jason David gained 222 yards in 25 carries and Steve Stevenson scored four times and gained 96 yards in 20 carries as the Charter Oak High team defeated Harvard-Westlake, 37-27, Saturday in the Southern Section Division VII football championship at Charter Oak High.
It is the first Southern Section championship for the Chargers since 1985.
Charter Oak (10-2-1) led, 37-13, at the start of the fourth quarter and had 316 rushing yards.
A Harvard-Westlake comeback seemed unlikely but the Wolverines (10-4) scored two touchdowns and drove to the Charter Oak 27-yard line before turning the ball over on downs with less than three minutes to play.
