Livent Fires CFO, 4 Others on SEC Advice

Livent Inc. fired its chief financial officer and four other employees in its finance and accounting department after the Securities and Exchange Commission told the Toronto-based theater company they should no longer be employed, according to a bankruptcy court filing. Livent fired CFO Maria Messina and the others after the SEC told Livent “it is no longer appropriate” for them to be employed while the company resolves charges that may be brought against it by the SEC. Livent, reeling from an accounting scandal blamed by the company on co-founders Garth Drabinsky and Myron Gottlieb, earlier this year filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and restated more than two years of its financial results.
