A 16-year-old Reseda resident was killed Saturday morning when his car crashed into a light pole on rain-slick Victory Boulevard.
Shant Bronsozian died instantly, even though he was wearing his seat belt, according to Los Angeles police. Officers said there were no signs of drug or alcohol abuse.
Police believe the youth, who was alone in his car, was speeding east and lost control of his 1981 BMW about 200 feet from Wilbur Avenue.
Relatives said the victim awoke at 6 a.m. and was probably going to a nearby school to play basketball, police said.
Bronsozian was wearing basketball shorts and a T-shirt, police said.
