Schultz Leads Cypress to Win in Tournament

Jeff Schultz struck out 13 batters in 7 2/3 innings as Cypress defeated College of the Desert, 5-0, in the Desert baseball tournament Saturday.
Schultz is 1-0.
Brandon Smith was three for four with one run scored for Cypress (3-0).
In an earlier game, Cypress outlasted El Camino to win, 12-10, in an eight-inning game shortened by time restrictions. Brian Snapp pitched 3 2/3 innings to win.
In the Orange Coast tournament:
Fullerton 13, Antelope Valley 2--Tim Hunt was three for four with a home run and four runs batted in to lead Fullerton. Bobby Sunderland pitched five innings to pick up his first victory of the season for the Hornets (2-1).
Golden West 9, Antelope Valley 2--Golden West’s Joshua Roberts was two for four, including a two-run home run in the seventh inning. Kevin Stuart struck out seven batters en route to his first victory of the season for the Rustlers (3-0).
Saddleback 16, Moorpark 4 (8 innings)--Kirk Bolling hit two home runs, including a grand slam in the fourth inning, and had seven RBIs for Saddleback. Pat Versluis struck out seven and walked two in five innings to win it for the Gauchos (2-0).
In the Rio Hondo Classic:
Santa Ana 21, Barstow 0 (7, mercy)--Rick Gonzalez was three for three with three RBIs and a home run for host Santa Ana (3-0). D.J. Houlton pitched a four-hitter for the Dons.
Gonzalez had three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs in an earlier 12-4 victory over Oxnard. Joe Urban had two hits and three RBIs for the Dons.
