Brewer Pitches Well; Chapman Wins Opener

ORANGE — Jim Brewer gave up one hit and one run in five innings as Chapman beat Occidental, 9-3, Thursday in a nonconference baseball game that was the season opener for both teams.

Brewer, a senior left-hander, had one walk and struck out nine for the victory.

Chapman scored two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings, then got five in the sixth to take a 9-1 lead.
