CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Boeing Co. said strong winds forced it to scrub the launch Sunday of a Delta II rocket carrying four Globalstar Telecommunications satellites.
The launch from Cape Canaveral Air Station was tentatively rescheduled for Friday at 8:22 a.m. EST. High winds have delayed three attempts to launch the rocket since Thursday.
The Delta II is scheduled to put the four satellites into low Earth orbit. By year’s end, Globalstar expects to launch 44 telecommunications satellites into space, providing worldwide wireless communications through a new generation of hand-held satellite telephones.
