Irvine Women Hold Off Nevada

IRVINE — UC Irvine built a 21-point lead and went on to beat Nevada, 77-64, in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game Sunday at Irvine Valley College.

Leticia Oseguera had 21 points and eight rebounds and Megan Stafford had 16 points for the Anteaters (11-9, 6-3), who led, 62-41, with 8 minutes 9 seconds left to play.

Nevada (14-7, 6-3) went on a 22-9 run and was down, 71-63, with 1:31 left, but UC Irvine made six of 10 free throws in the final minute to hold on. The game was played at Irvine Valley College because of flooding Friday at the Bren Center.
