City Council Picks Interim Manager

City Council members have unanimously chosen Assistant City Manager MaryJane Lazz to fill in as the city’s top executive.
Lazz, 49, will serve as interim city manager until a permanent replacement is found for Grant Brimhall, who retires this week.
No ending date for the appointment--made Tuesday night--was set by the council, which will consider increasing Lazz’s pay at a future meeting. Lazz is paid $116,436 annually; Brimhall’s annual salary was $131,748.
City officials have asked executive-search companies to submit proposals for recruiting a new city manager and hope to select one in March.
Lazz has been assistant city manager since 1980. Previously she held administrative posts in Oxnard city government.
