Courthouse Opponents Ask School District Support

Residents opposed to a proposed county municipal courthouse in the community are urging Capistrano Unified School District officials to join their fight.
Several members of the Citizens for a Safe Rancho Santa Margarita asked trustees this week to take an official stand against the proposed courthouse site near Arroyo Vista Elementary School.
“We have a deep concern for the safety of our children walking to and from school,” said parent L. Anthony Beall.
The school district already has sent a letter to Orange County Supervisor Tom Wilson encouraging officials to explore all site options before deciding on land near the Rancho Santa Margarita school, or on another proposed parcel near Las Flores Middle School.
“Anything that would compromise the safety of school children is important to us.” Supt. James A. Fleming said.
