Schools Chief Urges Internal Probe of Computer Porn

An internal probe should be conducted to find the identity of the workers who used district computers to access pornographic Internet sites, school board President Lisa Fowler said.
Such an investigation would remove any potential stigma from employees who use the computer system and allay the fears of parents, Fowler said. “I don’t want someone like that near our students,” she said.
Fowler’s remarks came on the heels of the Pasadena school district’s release of computer records to a parent that showed pornographic sites had been accessed. That parent, Rene Amy, on Monday called for an independent investigation.
Fowler said she would like to resolve the issue as quickly as possible but does not believe there is need for an outside review.
The computer records released to Amy did not contain user names. However, school officials have said many individuals share the same password and it would be difficult to determine who accessed the Internet sites.
