Festival to Celebrate Women’s History

WomenFest 98, UC Irvine’s fifth annual celebration of Women’s History Month, will include events through Thursday.
On Tuesday, the UCI Women’s Chorus and other student groups will perform and the new dean of humanities, Karen Lawrence, will give a welcome address at noon on the UCI Student Center ATM Stage.
An Artisans & Craftswomen’s Fair will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ring Mall, and a discussion about breaking gender barriers in science will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Cross-Cultural Center.
On Wednesday, the Women-Around-the-World Fair will focus on cultural issues, as well as nonprofit campus and community groups working on behalf of women and families, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ring Mall.
A reception Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. will mark the opening of the Women’s Hall of Fame, an exhibition at the Center for Women and Gender Education.
