Trustees Will Take Training Program

Trustees in Fullerton School District soon will take part in a program to learn how to evaluate themselves.
The training program, provided by the California School Boards Assn., will be helpful “especially on setting educational direction and vision,” Trustee Marjorie B. Pogue said.
Her colleagues, except Trustee Kim Ann Guth, agreed and voted to participate in the program, which will cost $900 to $1,200.
Guth said she will attend but will refuse to fill out any program surveys.
Some community activists questioned the board’s need for training, calling the program a waste of time.
A district parent and a teacher, however, said the program might help promote harmony on the sometimes contentious board.
“We feel that the board is not working as efficiently as it can,” parent Veronica Bullard said. “Obviously, the board does not work well together.”
