Spotlight: Riordan’s Team Woos DirecTV Facility to L.A.

DirecTV, the satellite TV service from Hughes Electronics, will build a new broadcasting facility in Los Angeles. In announcing the decision, L.A. Mayor Richard Riordan said the company will create “200 quality new jobs” for the city, which beat out Culver City, El Segundo and Long Beach. Riordan’s L.A. Business Team wooed DirecTV with a favorable Department of Water and Power contract and other incentives, including the recent 80% business-tax reduction for multimedia firms.
