Visitor Center Hopes to Attract Tourists

The city’s Chamber of Commerce has found a way to tap into the city’s biggest resource: the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano.
A new visitor information center will be set up in front of the 220-year-old mission in February to attract some of the more than 500,000 tourists who visit the mission annually.
The $3,000 project, sponsored by the San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce, is designed to blend in with the existing mission architecture. It will feature visitor information, including the chamber’s Downtown Visitors Shopping Guide and Walking Tour Guide to Historic San Juan Capistrano.
The tiny center is expected to be completed in time for the annual Swallow’s Day activities in March.
