Advanced Photonix Wins Certified Supplier Status

Advanced Photonix Inc. in Camarillo announced it has been awarded the Certified Supplier designation by a division of Hughes Aircraft Corp.
Advanced Photonix supplies optical components used in the navigational controls of various models of the TOW missile, an antitank defense system developed by Hughes for the Army. It has since been ordered by the U.S. Marine Corps and the military services of more than 40 other nations.
“Advanced Photonix should be proud of this designation,” said Guenter Schmidt, manager of quality control at Hughes Elcan, which makes the missile. “Hughes Elcan has awarded only 17 such designations out of a supplier base of more than 1,000 companies.”
Advanced Photonix designs and manufactures silicon photodetectors and other optical equipment.
