Supervisors to Meet With Foes of South County Courthouse

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA — Residents opposed to construction of a South County courthouse in the community will meet tonight with county Supervisor Thomas W. Wilson.
Residents formed Citizens for a Safe Rancho Santa Margarita to oppose the project, citing concerns that a courthouse would draw criminals to the community.
The county recently set aside about $5 million for a courthouse to replace an overcrowded complex in Laguna Niguel. County officials also are considering building the courthouse in the planned community of Ladera, which is south of Rancho Santa Margarita.
Two sites are being scrutinized in Rancho Santa Margarita: at the Lockheed building on Avenida de Las Banderas, and at Antonio Parkway and the toll road.
The 7 p.m. meeting will be at Arroyo Vista Elementary School, 23371 Arroyo Vista, in the campus multipurpose room. Information: (714) 858-4269.
