Graduations

Congratulations to Carole L. Spivey for her insightful analysis of a college graduation ceremony (“Graduations Aren’t Ball Games,” Voices, June 27).

The contemporary college graduation ceremony appears to be a microcosm of “the coarsening of American society.”
