Ex-Ventura Players Get Eligibility Back
Sean Van Gundy, Lukman Dotson and Arthur Karuletwa, former men’s basketball players at Ventura College, have had their eligibility reinstated by the state Commission on Athletics.
The three players were suspended last fall for one year by the Western State Conference for allegedly receiving free meal subsidies from boosters during the 1996-97 season.
Ventura remains in the second year of a two-year probation imposed by the WSC. School administrators have shut down the program for the duration of the probation.
Dotson is expected to play at Santa Barbara and Karuletwa at Oxnard next season. Van Gundy might walk on at University of San Francisco.
