Slowing Down

“Everybody feels they gotta be there already”--a phrase that captures our times, dead-on. It was said by Jim Cook, a Metrolink train engineer quoted in the July 14 Times. He was talking about impatient drivers who cross tracks just ahead of onrushing trains. But the phrase also applies to a lot of what we do these days in search of instant gratification.
It’s an admonition to wait a bit, smell the flowers, save a life.
