Rise in Building Permits Reflects Economic Boom

Business is booming in Arcadia, according to City Hall figures.
New construction in the fiscal year that ended June 30 exceeded $88 million citywide, more than double the year before, Deputy City Manager Don Penman said.
The number of building permits issued increased from 1,453 to 1,662, he said.
“This increase in building activity not only demonstrates the strength of our local economy, but also reflects the quality of development taking place in the community,” Mayor Gary Kovacic said.
The average permit valuation for the last fiscal year was $53,000, city officials said.
