Police said they arrested a Fountain Valley man on suspicion of child abuse early Monday after finding a cigarette burn on his daughter’s back.
Kevin Brian Stiltz, 28, told investigators the burn was accidental, Sgt. Jim Perry said. Stiltz was booked into the County Jail, and bail was set at $10,000.
Since Friday, the girl--along with her 1-year-old brother and 2-year-old sister--had been staying at their father’s home, in the 10390 block of La Tortola Circle, Perry said.
The girl’s grandparents brought the 6-year-old to Fountain Valley police headquarters Sunday night after discovering the burn, Perry said. Police arrested Stiltz about 4 1/2 hours later. They determined the mother was not at fault.
Stiltz is separated from the children’s mother; they share custody, Perry said.
All three siblings were later taken to the Orangewood Children’s Home, Perry said.
