LAGUNA BEACH-- Artwork comes alive during the Pageant of the Masters at 8:30 nightly July 8-Aug. 30. The accompanying Festival of the Arts, July 4-Aug. 30, showcases the work of nearly 160 artists. NEVADA CITY-- Pay homage to the Stars and Stripes at the Fourth of July Celebration, which begins at 11 a.m. with a parade down the city’s Broad Street, followed by a daylong arts and crafts fair, then fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Gates open at 10 a.m. Nevada County Fairgrounds, 11229 McCourtney Road, Grass Valley. $4, children 12 and under free. VENTURA-- The 23rd annual Fourth of July Celebration on Saturday has a children’s parade of decorated bikes and wagons at 10:30 a.m. and a street fair, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Main Street. Free. (805) 654-7830.
CORONADO-- “Salute to America” on Saturday includes a 15k run and 5k walk from Tidelands Park at 7 a.m.; a parade down Orange Avenue at 10 a.m.; a U.S. Navy demonstration at 2:30 p.m.; an art fair from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; and fireworks over Glorietta Bay at 9 p.m. Spreckels Park. Free. (800) 622-8300.
