Biopool International in Ventura has been awarded a contract as primary vendor to supply American Red Cross Regional Reference Laboratories with blood group reagents.
The contract runs for one year and contains a provision allowing it to be extended for two more years. Biopool will provide the full range of its blood reagents to approximately 40 Red Cross laboratories nationwide.
“Being chosen to have our reagents support the very important work of the [Red Cross] in ensuring the quality of the nation’s blood supply certainly speaks well for the quality of [our] test kits,” said Michael D. Bick, Biopool chairman and chief executive. “We also, of course, welcome the added volume to our base business.”
Biopool manufactures test kits to assess and diagnose blood disorders and kits to monitor drug abuse. The company’s product line of more than 150 FDA-approved products is sold to hospitals, blood bank facilities and clinical and reference laboratories.
