Msgr. Harvey, Longtime Area Pastor, Dies

Msgr. William Ralph Harvey, retired pastor emeritus of Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in Newport Beach, has died at age 83 after a stroke and lengthy illness.
After graduating from Boston College and St. John’s Seminary, Harvey was ordained by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 1941.
He began his career as an associate pastor at St. Mary’s in Santa Maria, Calif. He moved to different positions around the state and in 1961 was appointed the founding pastor of Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish. He retired in 1980 but continued to lead Mass there and to counsel parishioners.
He died Tuesday at a convalescent home in Santa Ana.
A vigil and rosary will be Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels, 2046 Mar Vista Drive.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the church. Burial will be at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange.
