Gerald Laird
La Quinta, Senior; Baseball/Catcher
Laird put his name into the state record books last week. He had four hits in two victories for the Aztecs and has 193 hits in his career, passing West Torrance’s Tony Cosentino (190, 1997). Laird had three hits, three runs and three stolen bases in a 9-0 victory over San Pedro Mary Star of the Sea, giving La Quinta Coach Dave Demarest his 500th victory.
Sean Fluent/Baseball/Pitcher
* Dana Hills, senior. Threw a complete game to help the Dolphins defeat third-ranked Mater Dei, 6-5.
David Moser/Volleyball/Outside hitter
* Dana Hills, senior. Led team to two South Coast League victories, including five-game win over fourth-ranked Mater Dei.
Ron Won/Golf
* University, junior. Shot two-over 146 at Coto de Caza to win the Pacific Coast League title.
