Mail Carriers’ Food Drive Tops 50 Million Pounds

WASHINGTON — The mail carriers’ annual food drive has topped 50 million pounds, with hundreds of communities yet to report.
The National Assn. of Letter Carriers conducted its annual Stamp Out Hunger drive on Saturday, collecting food for distribution to local food banks.
The union said reports from 618 locals out of 1,500 participating showed collections of 51,737,000 pounds of food. Last year, the mail carriers collected more than 73 million pounds of food nationwide.
