Sixth-graders from 13 Simi Valley schools will be showered with praise, patted on the back and handed certificates for successfully completing the Police Department’s DARE program.
From June 1-15, students from St. Rose of Lima and Seventh-day Adventist School will celebrate their completion of the drug-prevention program.
Those graduation events will be followed by others at Atherwood, Berylwood, Garden Grove, Simi, Parkview Center, Katherine, Santa Susana, Crestview, Justin, White Oak and Phoenix Ranch elementary schools throughout the following two weeks.
The department’s 17-week Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program offers children a variety of ways to avoid the pitfalls of drug abuse, while building self-esteem and finding creative ways to manage peer pressure.
