BURBANK — A pickup truck passenger was killed and the driver injured when the vehicle rolled as the driver tried to avoid another vehicle Wednesday.
The accident occurred at 5:20 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the Golden State Freeway near Buena Vista Avenue. California Highway Patrol investigators blocked all but one lane for almost three hours.
Coroner’s officials identified the passenger as Jose Luz Diaz, 26, of Sun Valley.
The driver, 31-year-old Manuel Salizar of North Hollywood, sustained broken vertebrae and cuts on his face and upper shoulder, Jacobs said. He was taken to Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank.
