If you have questions about buying fresh turkey for Thanksgiving dinner, or thawing a frozen bird, the federal government may be able to help.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has a Meat and Poultry Hotline staffed by home economists, registered dietitians and food technologists who can talk turkey.
Common questions concern how to determine a turkey’s doneness (by using a cooking thermometer) or how to deal with leftovers (refrigerate immediately after dinner).
