The city is taking applications for SCORE (Senior Citizens Organizing Reciprocal Efforts), a volunteer program that places active retired people older than 55 in the La Palma Police Department to perform nonhazardous duties. After training, volunteers will be asked to donate their time four days a week. Duties include answering the telephone, word processing, data entry, fingerprinting citizens and photocopying.
