Under first-year Coach Kiki Mendoza, St. John Bosco has a swarming defense and a hard-nosed offensive line that leads a veer running attack. “We pound it ahead,” Mendoza said, “and if you take away the inside stuff, we go outside with the pitch.” To beat Los Alamitos, the Braves will have to shut down one of the Southern Section’s most prolific passing attacks. Griffin quarterback Ryan Hanson has completed 71% of his pass attempts. Wide receiver Keenan Howry has 16 receptions for 335 yards, and Blasi Ritacco has seven for 123. Los Alamitos has outscored opponents, 166-50.
