A Baldwin Park man, William Joseph Maynor, was convicted Friday of the first-degree murders of his estranged wife and two of their three daughters, authorities said.
The Superior Court jury reached the verdict and immediately began the penalty phase of the trial. The jury will decide whether Maynor, 34, will get life in prison or be sentenced to death, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Cheri Lewis.
Maynor was arrested Sept. 8, 1996, near the Pico-Union house of his estranged wife, with one of his three daughters, who was then 4, Lewis said.
Lewis said that after a heated argument with his wife over taking the 4-year-old on a trip, Maynor stabbed Monica Maynor, 31; Megan, 6; and Michelle, 3.
