I was appalled to see a photo of a 5-week-old dead Albanian baby on your Oct. 14 front page. I am disgusted at the complete lack of taste you have displayed in choosing a photo so horrific and personal. Trying to be fair-minded, I read the corresponding article to determine whether or not the photo was necessary to depict the story. It absolutely was not.
While it is important to inform the public about the issues in Yugoslavia, it is equally important that we remember these people are human and we must respect their privacy.

* When I first saw the front-page photograph, I momentarily thought it was of a newborn babe. The scene seemed so reminiscent of a Christmas setting. But when I read that this child had frozen to death and was to be buried, my heart froze, too, and wondered how much more?
