Re “Oil Companies Take Measures to Protect Operations, Staff,” Aug. 21: How convenient for the oil companies. Now we can justify beginning the process of undermining the current regime in Afghanistan and providing support for an alternative, more “stable, internationally recognized” one--right when they are “evaluating” their collective interests in a proposed pipeline that would run through the region. Bravo!
