SUN VALLEY — A 6-month-old boy remained in critical condition Friday after an automobile accident in which his mother and two others were killed when their car ran off the road and hit a tree, Los Angeles police said.
The infant was clinging to life at Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles, suffering from head and abdominal injuries, said hospital spokesman Steve Rutledge.
Shannon Tucker, 20, the child’s mother, was driving north on Glenoaks Boulevard on Thursday night at a high rate of speed when her car ran off the road and hit a tree. Tucker died instantly. Two men in the car, Leland Lupton, 18, and Michael Ortolano, 20, both of the Sunland-Tujunga area, were also killed in the accident.
Police said the accident was caused by speeding.
