Washington’s Home Open for Night Tours

Through Aug. 28, George Washington’s Mt. Vernon estate on the Potomac River in Virginia will be regularly open in the evening for the first time to honor the bicentennial of the president’s death. “Celebration Nights,” which include tours and concerts, will take place 6 to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, excluding May 14-15. They are included with regular admission, which is $8 adults, $4 children ages 6 to 11, free under 5. The home is normally open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day this time of year.
