Coroner’s officials Saturday identified a 19-month-old Sun Valley girl who fell Friday from a three-story balcony to her death.
Maria Rosario Resendez slipped through the railing of a balcony overlooking the parking lot of Villa Monica, an apartment complex at 7655 Lankershim Blvd. Neighbors said the mother was nearby.
“She fell through the railings because they’re really far apart,” said Josefina Matute, 17, who lives in the complex. “I heard a scream and I looked out and I saw the mother picking up her kid.”
The girl fell about 5:30 p.m. Friday and was taken to Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles, where she was treated for head injuries. She died at 11:17 p.m.
