Plans for a proposed $4-million Metrolink station are underway, with an engineering report expected to be complete by the end of the year.
The City Council last week unanimously approved hiring a firm to study the possibility of building the station on the north side of Esperanza Road, east of New River. The plans for the station are still in the initial stages, although some of the funds for the project are in place.
The city has received $1.2 million in federal and local grants and is still pursuing funds, city documents said.
Metrolink is a passenger train that travels throughout Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties.
