The Fire Department announced Tuesday the hiring of two new firefighters, Dan Johnson and Richard Flores.
Johnson, 26, is a longtime resident of La Habra. He graduated in 1990 from Sonora High, where he was the captain of the football team. Flores, 26, of Wilmington, was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve for the last five years.
Johnson and Flores join a 38-person firefighting crew, which had been understaffed with the retirement of two battalion chiefs.
