A TV Rerun: Pippen Wants to Be a Laker
The NBA trade rumor that will not die--because it is so intriguing and possibly because there is a grain of truth to it--resurfaced Wednesday night.
Citing sources it did not name, KRIV-TV in Houston reported Scottie Pippen had recently asked Rocket Coach Rudy Tomjanovich to trade him to the Lakers.
Tomjanovich would not comment on the report, and Pippen’s agent, Jimmy Sexton, would neither confirm nor deny it, KRIV said.
One league source contacted Wednesday after the report said that he did not know if Pippen had requested a trade, but said that the Rockets certainly didn’t seem to be in panic mode.
Before the June 30 draft, the Rockets rejected a Laker offer of Glen Rice and Robert Horry for Pippen.
